For the customers of GARDEN IGLOO we use Huksy.ai to apply for grants and funding. For homeless people we try to help them get  housing. The biggest issue for the 40,000 homeless people in the UK is not their probable criminal records, or probabale drug dendedenies. The biggest problem is if you don't have an address - it is so much harder to find an address. 

To sponsor someone to don't need to do anything but allow them to share the postal address - and let them come and go to the garden as they please;You don't need to allow them to use the facilities; most homeless people and experienced rough sleepers will know how to find washroom facilities and food. If you choose to be charitable you choose to on your own risk. Think of an experienced rough sleeper like a dog. Kind, attentive and protective; but potentially dangerous. 

Let's be adults - the reason we have not solved homelessness is we do not have the strength to believe that they are worthy of our trust.  Many will be recently released, many will be coming from hospitals and many will have severe dependence liabilities. We think you have the strength to trust them in your garden. 

 On any given night there are 600 women who will sleep rough.  There are 10,000 women who do not have children and are not 'priority need' for housing. Half of  all unhoused women are assessed as being victims of domestic violence. 

This often means their partners lock them out for the night - or some women desperately leave the house late at night to avoid conflict. To sponsor a woman you must be a woman - and you must not have two males in the house over the age of 16. 

This is an essential safe guarding policy. When submitting freedom of information requests about the scheme to councils in Yorkshire many council workers asked if we would be doing DBS checks; if we did this would exclude 50% of all the rough sleepers on the street; and the principal reason why homeless people cannot get social housing is because councils deny claims to people who have a criminal record.  We do need to perform checks on the sponsors or the WALRUS's as we say. 

We subscribe to the judgements portal for all charged people in Yorkshire; if we find out that any Walrus's have sexual or physical violence charges.  All homless eskimo who commit crimes against sponsors or the local community will be dropped from the project. 

 To sponsor a man you must have two men in the house over the age of 16 and under the age of 65 - and nobody in the house under the age over 16 or over the age of 65. 

As a safe guarding policy the rule exists because one man can overpower another man, but not two. Further; there must be no outstanding charges for fraud, drug dealing, violence or anything.  The Walrus scheme is mostly for men, both as benefactor and beneficiaries. If you are a woman and you want an igloo for free you might be better off looking for childcare igloos, eldercare igloos and work from home igloos.  Even if you don't want to build an igloo you can still support your local community as we share your contact data on the grounds of 'vital interest' helping homeless people find work, care and lodgings,
