IGLOO CIC (Community Interest Company) Est 2025 Powered with Generative & Agentic AI. (formerly 'Hexayurt Project' - 2005)
Don't spend your own money.
The time is now, - UK homes are the worst insulated out of anywhere in Europe. There is a diverse granting landscape for insulation and we designed the Garden Igloo (Foam Shed) to be below the threshold for all public and private grants, disability allowances, charitable community schemes, tax relief allowances, designed to comply with permitted development standards, VAT exemptions, and then we put Kevlar on it as standard. Partnering with Kingspan, and in turn they are partnering with Dupont; we are currently looking for five brand ambassadors, who get an igloo 100% free.
Igloo is designed to be fully compliant to planning policies from the start; first we survey your garden; get an architect in to work out what size, shape, and placement of garden igloo you can have. We ensure that there is never any need for building control inspections, unless you require to change the use from a garden shed; and we use a trusted team of builders and subcontractors from our 10 years in property development to make sure the electrics are fully compliant, and any heating you may want.
There is no maximum volume limit, and it’s a common misconception that councils only permit flat or dual-pitched roofs. Our Barrel and Mansard roof designs offer more loft space with lower eaves, creating greater flexibility. See our predesigns in the pricebook for examples of the extra loft space available when you choose us.
Some designs require specific distances from boundaries, but it’s a myth that this must always be 2 meters if the roof peak exceeds 2.5 meters. What truly matters is respecting neighbors' right to light. The winter sun sits at approximately 10 degrees, and all our designs stay within this threshold, with roof angles kept under 11 degrees to ensure compliance.
No planning permission is needed for any of our 32 preapproved, precosted designs. The rule is straightforward, though often made to sound complex: if your structure exceeds 4 meters in height, permission is required; if under 4 meters, it’s generally exempt unless you violate the golden rule. If the 4-meter ridge line is less than 2 meters from a shared boundary, permission is necessary to protect the right to light. Sheds can be positioned right up to the boundary wall, provided eaves stay below 2.5 meters.
For those wanting to build along the party wall, there’s a misconception that height is limited to 2.5 meters, but this only applies to flat roofs or pitched roofs with ridges perpendicular to the boundary. Regulations were redefined in 2022 and different councils have interpreted the statute differently offering their own definitions; so get an architect in; and we will let you know what the score is now. We always build to a maximum of two SUPER SIP panels, capping eaves at 2400mm just to be safe. Our shed floors are 200mm thick, comfortably below the 300mm raised platform limit. In your agreement, we promise to refund you if the council orders the removal. So get an architect in - free inperson advice until 2025.
We registered as "Insulation Installers" as in essence and for all intensive purposes. SUPER (our snow) is just a stronger version of what is currently available; and we do indeed install insulation and nothing else for the structural build. We are still waiting on the approval for this; and we will separate the structural build and the following build into two companies if we have our suspicions confirmed. In 2022 central government zero rated many sustainable building practices; including "insulation installers" - whatever that is; currently brickies, renderers, roofers and plasteres install insulation as part of the job, so it is unclear who this applies to; and we beleive it applies only to SIP builders like us. Unlike others; we do not have one price for credit cards, and other for cash. If you want to pay via credit card; you can; no skin off our back.
Single story, detached outbuildings that are less than 15m2 (Like all our 32 igloos) - This means that not only is not planning perimssion required, but no building control is required unless you use it for sleeping. We do not advise that you use the igloo as an Air B n B without applying for a change of use; from a shed; to a dwelling. However you do you of course; and if this is your intention we should be made to know early on and we can use our 10 years of experience in the field to aid you. Yeah I know it sounds all quite complex, get an architect in. We can make sure you save money on the build, and it doesn't cost you in the long run. See your agreement now if you like; we always promise to refund you if the council orders the removal.
You can claim tax relief on:
A flat rate of £6 per week without needing to provide evidence of your extra costs.
The exact amount of extra costs you've incurred, but you'll need to provide evidence such as receipts or bills. Inlcluding the cost of 'neccessary equipment'
The tax relief you receive is based on your tax rate. For example, if you pay the 20% basic rate of tax and claim tax relief on £6 a week, you would get £1.20 per week in tax relief (20% of £6)
How to Claim:
If you're eligible, you can claim tax relief by completing a P87 form and sending it to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) by post. When you claim, you must send evidence that you have to work from home. This scheme includes all self employed sole traders with a business registered to a residential address.
Additional Support:
For individuals with disabilities or health conditions, the Access to Work scheme provides grants to cover additional costs of working from home, such as specialist equipment or support services. This scheme is designed to help people who are disabled or have a physical or mental health condition stay in employment.
Right to roam.
The igloo was designed to be theft proof; whereas the PINGU igloo is soft shelled; and only jointed together with wet room joining compound; the IGLOO igloos are hard shelled; the silicone fibreglass means that nobody can cut into the igloo/garden room; a major concern from the people we surveyed.
The good news is we can go further that that if you want; and make a hard-shelled igloo tough enough to resist power tools even; you can choose to have your igloo made with Kevlar fibreglass instead. Use the price calculator to find out more. S
